Thalita Maleka is a dedicated Gauteng-based Provincial Coordinator with Sisonke National Movement, drawing on more than seven years of grassroots and national-level activism. She plays a pivotal role in advancing sex worker, LGBTQIA+ rights leveraging gender equality; working tirelessly to ensure marginalised communities are represented in national dialogues and policy spaces. Thalita previously served as the Sex Work Sector Representative on the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), Tshwane District, where she amplified the health and policy concerns of sex workers in critical decision-making arenas. A budding photographer who sharpened her storytelling skills through formal training at the renowned Market Photo Workshop, giving her a unique voice in visual advocacy. She leads provincial coordination efforts alongside peer educators, and media liaisons to drive community outreach and sector planning. Facilitates community mobilisation by organising peer education, outreach initiatives, and creative sensitisation workshops. She guides provincial dialogues and reporting, ensuring that local issues inform national strategy and communications. Strengthens stakeholder relations, forging collaborations with partners, policymakers, and allied organisations to enhance inclusive advocacy. Thalita is passionate about building inclusive movements and advancing social justice across South Africa. Her commitment lies in empowering marginalised voices and forging spaces where everyone including sex workers and LGBTQI+ individuals have equitable access to rights and representation.
