Yonela Sinqu joined Sisonke during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, stepping into the role of Communications, Membership Officer. With more than a decade of experience in the print media industry spanning reporting, layout design, and photography she brings a unique blend of creativity, strategy, and storytelling to the movement. Rooted in community development and driven by a love for language, Yonela is fluent in three and proficient in two of South Africa’s official languages. A journalist by training and a humanitarian at heart, she holds a qualification in journalism from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and remains deeply committed to amplifying the voices and experiences of others, whether through the written word or behind the camera. Originally from the Eastern Cape, Yonela is a woman of few words who lets her work speak for itself, thoughtful, versatile, and passionate about using communication as a tool for change.
